What to expect on your first visit to a chiropractor
If you don't know what a chiropractor does or what to expect from your first visit and subsequent treatment from Harpenden Chiropractic Clinic, this page aims to give a brief outline of both.
Thorough assessments with a qualified chiropractor
The first time you visit us you will be asked for details of your medical history and any previous injuries which you have sustained. One of our qualified chiropractors will then perform an orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic examination to make a thorough assessment. X-rays, MRI scans or ultrasound scans may be recommended if visual information is required to confirm diagnosis. Once all the information is gained and analysis is complete, your chiropractor will discuss the diagnosis and your treatment plan.
Treatment - what to expect
Your chiropractor will usually perform precise adjustments of the spine or other joints. You may experience a little stiffness or aching; particularly after your first treatment. Acute, recent conditions often respond to treatment very quickly whilst a long-standing or chronic condition may need up to 6 - 12 treatments or more. The average number of treatments is 6 visits; less if a condition is treated early. Your chiropractor may recommend periodic check-ups to maintain improvement and prevent recurrences, or just for general wellness and health.
